My goal is to find the ultimate toe-curling, cringe inducing hairdresser name pun, here is a list of ones I’ve found on Yell.com. What I’m finding is a lot of names replace C’s with K’s and S’s with Z’s, possibly with the intention of “That’ll make us sound edgy, no one will have done that before.” I’m looking at you Kutting Krew, Cutz, Strandz, Frizz Bizz.

Leeds College of Art Portal UI Update

Following a series of Intranet Working Party meetings I co-chaired for Leeds College of Art, it was decided that the horizontal navigation menu should be dropped and substituted for a large graphical UI, with sub-sections navigated via a hierarchical Jquery menu in the left sidebar, admittedly this new navigation system results in a higher clicks-to-content, but the general reaction to the changes has been very positive.

Other features added: a tailored quick links bar was to the head of the page (different content for authenticated and unauthenticated users). Integration with Google Calendar in the form of a upcoming events block, accessibility controls for text size and page styles to help comply with current legislation, and some minor tweaks to the CSS for colour schemes and spacing.

Why oh why can I not keep my blog up to date?

Well, the reasons are thus:

I have a lovely, fantastic, goregous wife, who I love to spend my time with.
I have a keen interest in board-gaming (which I also enjoy playing with my wife) and dare I say it? Magic: the Gathering. Yes, that makes me very geeky and dammit – I don’t care!
I am enslaved to my Xbox (much to the annoyance of 1.), I can often find myself engrossed in a game for hours, see Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood or Call of Duty multiplayer.
I am also enslaved to the Sky+ box, which if I leave it alone for more than 5 minutes it seems to fill up with quality programming – we had a marathon session of Game of Thrones at the weekend – all I can say is WOW! Good plot, great actors, can’t wait for ‘winter’ to come.
I have also recently purchased a Blu-Ray player and am now experiencing ‘the very latest in high definition home entertainment’ – exactly what they said when DVD came out. But….. it does look good, very good. Casino Royale looks amazing and the just purchased T2 is very sharp. I think that having the player will also stave me off getting Sky HD (well for a year or so).
When I’m not doing the above, I’m usually sleeping or working, or at a beer festival enjoying a few ales. See below.

But somehow, I’ve managed to put a blog post up detailing how I can’t put a blog post up.
